Plečnik is the number one name in Slovenian architecture. But you can see his masterpieces in three capital cities, Ljubljana, Vienna and Prague.

Slovenian Architect

Plečnik, as the Slovenian architect number 1 was Otto Wagner's student in Vienna. He presented his talent very soon with planning the Zacherl palace. This is not the only Plečnik's work in Vienna, he also helped developing different Vienna houses, and is also known for the Karl Boromejski fountain and the church of the Holy ghost at  Ottakring.

Ljubljana is a mid-sized city located in Slovenia. It has about 280 000 inhabitants and cover an area of 270 square kilometers. It a capital city of Republic of Slovenia and also a political, economical, educational and cultural center.

Around the city you can find many fast growing towns which are actually used mostly for sleeping, people form this town mostly drive to work in Ljubljana everyday. There is not a lot of problems with traffic because Slovenia has well developed highway and railway systems.

Slovenia is a young European country in Central Europe. It is a member of the European Union since 1st of May 2004. First settlements were found dating in 6th century and the country got independent after a turbulent history.

The country developed fast through the history and kept pace with the most developed western European countries. It is one of the 30 most developed countries in the world, judging by the Gross domestic product per capita.

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. Slovenia is a country with different geographical features, and Ljubljana lies in almost its geographical center.


Ljubljana with its 300.000 inhabitants counts as a smaller European city, but it is visited by a large number of tourists and business people every year. Even more, stars and important persons from culture, sports and politics visit Ljubljana each year, most recently the British queen Elisabeth II.

Ancient town Emona

The ancient  town Emona was build where today's Ljubljana lays by the Roman in 14 AD. It was build on the plain, so called the doors of Ljubljana. They used the natural passageway between the Castle hill and the Šiška hill. This passageway is a part of an important trade route, connecting the North Europe with the Mediterranean sea.
